On-Farm Milk Pickup

On-farm milk pickup does not require a food order. That said, it’s important to understand that ordering food through ZOE Farms plays a critical role in keeping the herd share viable.

The Keim Family Herd Share is owned and operated by Atlee and Anna Keim and their five children, who raise and milk the cows using traditional Amish practices. ZOE Farms is a separate operation that provides the modern infrastructure that allows this herd share to function reliably and sustainably.

Even with on-farm pickup, the milk herd share depends on systems beyond what the Keim's are able to provide —ordering, coordination, scheduling, communication, and infrastructure that ZOE Farms maintains so the Keim family can remain focused on farming.

Because of this, purchasing food from ZOE Farms—either by ordering online or buying food when you pick up—is critically important. Those food dollars help support the infrastructure that makes the herd share possible, even when milk is picked up directly at the farm.

Rather than charging fees, we’ve chosen to support this system through real food. When you order beef, chicken, eggs, pork, cheese, or other farm foods, you are helping cover the real costs of coordination and infrastructure support while receiving food your family can use.

In short, while on-farm pickup does not require a food order, regular food purchases are an essential part of keeping this herd share healthy, sustainable, and available for the long term.
